The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister KWON Chil-seung) announced it will operate the ‘K-Startup Hall’ at CES 2022, the world’s largest consumer electronics show, running from January 5 to 7 in Las Vegas, United States.
CES, organized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), is the world’s largest electronics exhibition where innovative companies from around the globe showcase future electronics incorporating information technology (IT) and new technologies, providing an opportunity to observe the latest technology trends and future industry developments.
Unlike last year when the event was held completely online due to COVID-19, this year’s show will be conducted in person. The event is expected to be meaningful as it allows direct experience of technology innovation and change trends that have occurred worldwide over the past two years.
Similar to last year, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups has established the K-Startup Hall in Eureka Park at Tech West Hall during CES 2022, where Korean startups will showcase their innovative technologies and products. Eureka Park is a dedicated space for startups pre-selected by CES organizers (CTA) based on criteria including new product or service launches, CES participation rates, and personal brands.
A total of 30 startups will showcase their products and promotional videos at the K-Startup Hall. CES participants, including buyers and investors, can freely visit the K-Startup Hall to experience these startups’ innovative technologies and products or engage in investment discussions.
Six out of the 30 participating startups (LUX Lab, Linkface, EVAR, AI for Pet, TacTracer, and Hippo T&C) received the ‘CES Innovation Awards’ given to technologies or products with excellent innovation, demonstrating Korean startup excellence to the world. The CES Innovation Awards are presented by CTA to innovation award winners in each sector based on technology and design, with recipients announced throughout the entire CES duration.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to provide comprehensive support to ensure the 30 startups achieve substantial results, including business conferences and buyer meetings beyond the exhibition space provided at the K-Startup Hall to facilitate investment attraction.
CHA Jung-hoon, Deputy Minister for Startup and Venture Innovation Office, stated, “CES 2022 is a great opportunity for Korean companies to identify global market trends and establish strategies for overseas market entry.” He added, “Participating in CES 2022 is one of the many ways the Ministry supports Korean startups to showcase their excellent technology and innovation in the United States, the world’s largest market, and obtain new business opportunities overseas.”
By participating in CES 2022, Korean startups will be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with renowned large and innovative companies around the globe and share the excellence of Korean startups with CES visitors.
