MyRealTrip Raises $56.5 Million in new Funding from Global Investors…Secures $150 Million in Post-Pandemic Funding
MyRealTrip(마이리얼트립), a super travel app, has secured a total of $56.5 million (KRW 75.6 billion) in investment from domestic and foreign investors.
The investment included global investment firms such as BRV Capital Management, Korelya Capital, Partech Partners and Vanderbilt University in France, as well as domestic firms SV Investment and Samsung Securities. In addition, existing shareholders such as IMM Investment, Altos Ventures and Smilegate Investment continued to invest.
For Korelya Capital in particular, which invests in leading European travel unicorns such as GetYourGuide, this is its first investment in Korea.
MyRealTrip will use the funds to strengthen its existing super-app strategy and focus on new businesses such as packaged services and B2B sales. MyRealTrip is also in discussions with other investors and expects to raise additional funds in this round.
Since the pandemic, MyRealTrip has raised nearly $150 million (KRW 200 billion) in funding, demonstrating its future value and viability in the capital markets. Last summer, the company broke the monthly break-even point (BEP) and has since achieved an annualised transaction volume of $750 million (KRW 1 trillion). This January, it is expected to reach a record $105 million (KRW 140 billion) in trading volume and turnover.
Last year, MyRealTrip had a strong performance in the airline and hospitality sectors. The company also ranked third overall in airline ticket bookings under the BSP and was named one of Forbes Asia’s 100 Companies to Watch in 2023.
“We are grateful for the interest and support of our existing shareholders and leading local and international investment firms who continue to believe in our business performance and high growth potential,” said Donggun Lee, CEO of MyRealTrip. “With this investment, we will further consolidate our position as Korea’s leading travel super app and do our best to satisfy our customers as always.”
Meanwhile, MyRealTrip expanded its business last year by entering the package tour market. It is also rapidly expanding its reach into the family and inbound travel markets through the acquisition of platforms such as iwatrip and Startrip.
