Korean EdTech startups met with family outings over the weekend.
‘Learning While Having Fun!(요즘엔 이렇게 배워요! 놀면서 배우기)”, an exhibition and experience event for edtech startups, opened on the 9th.
The event, which was held at Yongsan Children’s Garden on September 9 and 10, was designed to help children experience products and services developed by startups and provide parents with useful educational information to promote the current status and development of the children’s education industry.
The Yongsan Children’s Garden was built on the land that the U.S. Forces Korea returned to the Korean government as part of the relocation of its headquarters. 20 promising startup companies selected through evaluation participated in the event. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups recruited 69 startups to participate in the event, and the participating companies were finally selected after evaluating their technology, marketability, and suitability for the event.
The event venue was organized into an Exhibition Area, an Activities Area, and a Play-based Learning Area. Eight companies participated in the Exhibition Area, offering gamer-based learning apps and digital science learning materials. In the Activities Area, visitors could design and make products developed by eight startups. In the Play-based Learning Area, children could play with the characters on the lawn.
Four companies participated in the Play-based Learning Area, including The Pinkfong Company, known for Pinkfong and Baby Shark, and held various play events with children, including character photo zones and merchandise giveaways, play programs with popular YouTubers, virtual library experiences, and IoT game learning.

A (30), who visited the park with her family, said, “I pre-registered for the K-EdTech startup exhibition and experience event.” “It was good to see various educational programs, and some of the services will be helpful to my child right away,” she said.
